Every year, Laura Baisden of Camp Nevernice picks a theme for the next year’s tear-off calendar art…which is tricky! Sometimes when she’s stuck, it’s based on the Chinese zodiac animal (because who doesn’t love an animal theme?), sometimes it’s based on a song lyric of something playing on repeat in the studio and SOMETIMES it’s just based on something I’ve really been itching to make (like this year’s adventure scene based on “The Land of Make Believe” by Jaro Hess in 1930.) Regardless of the imagery inspiration, the text is always a little bit of a wish or a blessing or an encouragement for the start of the new year. This year’s quote is from Robert Frost - originally “The Best Way out is always Through” from the poem “A Servant to Servants” but used the concisely paraphrased version “The Only Way Out is Through” (just because it fits a little better and it doesn’t need to rhyme with the next line).
